Questions
Can I use LoteAI without creating an account?
Yes, and there is nothing to create. No email, no password, no confirmation link, no trial that expires. Open the page and the chat is already there.
Where do my messages go?
Your conversation is sent to the AI provider in order to produce a reply — that is unavoidable for any AI chat, including this one. It is not stored on our side. Once the answer comes back, the whole conversation is written to your browser's own storage, and we have no copy of it.
Can I see my old chats?
Yes, they stay in your browser. That is also the catch: if you clear your browser data, or open the site in a different browser or on a different device, your history will not be there. Nothing is synced anywhere, because there is no account to sync it to.
Can I ask it about a document?
Yes. Attach a text file — .txt, .md, .csv, .json, .log and similar — and ask a question about it. The file is read in your browser, not uploaded, and only the passages that match your question are sent to the model. Answers cite the line numbers they came from, so you can check them against your own copy. One honest limit: the search is by keyword, so asking about “billing” will not find “charges are levied monthly”. It finds wording that overlaps with your question, not meaning that overlaps with it.
What AI model does LoteAI use?
An open-weight model — gpt-oss-120b, developed by OpenAI and released under a licence that lets anyone run it — served through Groq's API. Groq runs the hardware; the model itself is not locked to any one company, which is the point of the open-weight release.
Is LoteAI really free, or is there a catch?
It is free and there is no paid tier to upgrade to. It is kept running by advertising, which is why you will see an ad at the bottom of the page. There is no account to cancel and no card on file.
Is there a message limit?
There is a fair-use limit so one person cannot use up the service for everyone: a short burst limit, and a larger daily allowance. Both are generous for normal use. If you hit one you will be told plainly how long to wait rather than shown an error.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. It runs entirely in the browser, so there is nothing to download. Because your history lives in that browser, your phone keeps your chats and your laptop keeps a separate set — they do not sync.
Can it help me write code?
Yes. It is a capable general model, so it handles code, explanation, rewriting, debugging and long documents. It also shows its reasoning as it goes, which is useful when you want to check how it got to an answer.
Why does it sometimes take a few seconds to reply?
The answer has to be generated a piece at a time, so a longer response takes longer. The model starts working immediately and the reply appears as it is written rather than all at once at the end.
Is LoteAI better than ChatGPT?
It is not trying to be. There is no paid tier, no account and no tracking of what you ask. If you need the very strongest model on a hard problem, you will find one elsewhere. If you want to open a tab, ask something and close it again, this is built for that.
